SUMMARY: Reports directly to the Director of Early Childhood.  Deliver the highest quality instruction to facilitate student achievement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain records and other information regarding the progress of children.
  • Plan and implement the daily program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the district.
  • Treat all children and families with dignity and respect.
  • Communicate and interact positively and professionally with parents.
  • Adapt instruction to the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents, individual style and pace of learning.
  • Consider individual children in relationship to their cultural and socioeconomic background.
  • Help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  • Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth including Project Construct, Creative Curriculum and Parents as Teachers.
  • Conduct parent conferences, both formal and informal, on children’s school adjustment and classroom behavior.
  • Provide home visits through the Parents as Teachers program to families of children enrolled in his/her classroom.
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children and report this information to the parents.
  • Assist in the public relations events sponsored by the school.
  • Assume responsibility for children enrolled in other classrooms during employment hours, including classrooms, halls and play areas.
  • Attend scheduled staff or program meetings, or special events called by the director.
  • Check and report attendance of children in assigned groups.
  • Implement methods for effectively utilizing the services of the teachers and assistants.
  • Cooperate with the director in any temporary reassignment necessary, or in other ways necessary to maintain a quality program for all children enrolled.
  • Responsible for completing all requirements of accreditation, licensing, and grants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Current and appropriate Missouri DESE early childhood certificate (B-3) required.
  • Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.

Salary:  Teacher Range on the District Teacher Salary Schedule
