SUMMARY: Reports directly to the building principal. Promote the educational and reading development of each student to the maximum extent possible

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP:

  • Demonstrates appropriate preparation for instruction.
  • Implements a variety of effective teaching strategies.
  • Provides opportunities for individual differences.
  • Implements instructional objectives effectively.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter.
  • Uses a variety of teaching materials.
  • Uses instructional time effectively.
  • Demonstrates ability to motivate students.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with students.
  • Provides students with specific evaluative feedback.

 

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT:

  • Organizes classroom environment to promote learning.
  • Manages student behavior in constructive manner.

 

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with students, staff and parents/patrons.

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in professional growth activities.
  • Follows policies and procedures of the school district.
  • Assumes responsibilities outside of the classroom as they relate to school.
  • Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a current Missouri State Teaching Certificate.
  • Hold a current Missouri Special Reading K-12 certificate.
  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, preferably a Master's Degree.
  • Have a broad knowledge of reading programs, strategies, and current best practices.
  • The ability to serve in the role as reading/language resource.
  • Such alternatives as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Successful completion of background check by Human Resources.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Year: 10 Month

Salary: Teacher Range on the Teacher Salary Schedule - minimum $46,935/year
