RGSD is home to 13 schools, which serve approximately 5,700 students. Committed to providing excellent programs from early childhood education through high school.

SUMMARY: Report directly to the building principal or his/her designee. Assists with appropriate classroom activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with instructional programs and general school operations.
- Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
- Provides escorts assistance for children as necessary.
- Helps maintain informal student performance records.
- Assists teacher(s) in maintaining student work and study areas.
- Assists with the supervision of children during play periods.
- Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

To become an Instructional Assistant (Paraprofessional) must meet one of the following requirements to obtain your Substitute Certification:

- 60 college credit hours
- OR Associate’s degree or higher (Emphasis on teaching)
- OR Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
- OR Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (September 23, 2013 and after)
- OR Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program.
- Ability and personality to work with colleagues, teachers, and other staff.
- Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.
PHYSICAL / TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
- Exerts 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
- Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 20 feet.
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups.
- Requires occasional or frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching for extended periods of time.
- The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and is generally a hazard free environment.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
