SUMMARY: Report directly to the building principal or his/her designee. Assists with appropriate classroom activities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Assists with instructional programs and general school operations.            
  • Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
  • Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
  • Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
  • Alerts the teacher to the special needs of individual children.
  • Provides escorts assistance for children as necessary.
  • Helps maintain informal student performance records.
  • Assists teacher(s) in maintaining student work and study areas.
  • Assists with the supervision of children during play periods.
  • Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

To become an Instructional Assistant (Paraprofessional) must meet one of the following requirements to obtain your Substitute Certification:

    • 60 college credit hours
    • OR Associate’s degree or higher (Emphasis on teaching)
    • OR Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
    • OR Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (September 23, 2013 and after)
    • OR Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program.
    • Ability and personality to work with colleagues, teachers, and other staff.
    • Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Year: 10 Month
