SUMMARY: Reports directly to the Director of Facilities. To provide general maintenance support for the District.
Essential Functions:
- Installs, maintains and repairs water and sanitary systems, sittings, and fixtures
- Cuts openings in walls for pipes; cuts, reams and threads pipe; caulk and wipes joints; pours, spreads, and shapes molten solder over joints; and installs necessary supports, hangers, and foundations for water and sanitary equipment
- Repairs and reconditions plumbing installations such as sinks, dishwashers, lavatories, sump pumps, and water waste and vent-lines
- Installs, maintains, repairs and troubleshoot water and sewer systems from curb lines to building interiors as well as on boilers, chiller and rooftop A/C units
- Successful completion of a background check by Human Resources
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Requires a St. Louis County Plumbing License
- Minimum of six (6) years of Journeyman level plumbing experience
- Graduation from a general or technical high school
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and equipment of the plumbing trade.
- Knowledge of the hazards and safety precaution of the plumbing trade
- Ability to work from sketches and specifications
- Ability to observe safety precautions in carrying out assigned tasks
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Skilled in the use of the tools and equipment of the plumbing trade
Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing, Balancing, Stooping or Crouching, Kneeling, Crawling, Reaching, Pushing, Grasping, Talking, Hearing
- Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
- Medium work - exert up to 25 to 70 pounds of force often to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient enough to do assigned tasks
- Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a signification degree; on feet 7 out of 8 hours per day
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
- Will have limited or extreme exposure to physical risk
